Dramas on Netflix
Our Top Pick: The Last Kingdom (2015, Netflix Original)
There seems to be an endless stream of ground-breaking shows on Netflix, but The Last Kingdom has to be one of our favorites. Set in the year 872, this Norse epic embarks as the many kingdoms of ancient England have fallen to invading Danish forces. The last standing kingdom of Wessex, led by King Alfred, is where the series hero Uhtred originates from.
However, he’s captured by the Danes and raised as one of their own. This creates great tension within Uhtred, forcing hard choices between his Saxon place of birth and his Dane upbringing. Through his journey to claim his birthright, Uhtred walks a treacherous line between these sides while also partaking in the bloody creation of an entirely new nation.
If folklore and kingdoms aren’t your thing, here’s a lineup of additional hits in our HighSpeedOptions queue.

Dramas on HBO Max
Our Top Pick: Euphoria (2019, HBO Original)
Impossible to ignore, Euphoria follows a group of modern high school students through a varying array of life events. Euphoria shows its characters navigating friendship, lust, and violence through a youthful landscape of experimentation, trauma, and Instagram. Watch Euphoria for a rollercoaster of melodramatic teenage plot lines, while occasionally being presented with some grating social and psychological commentary.

Dramas on Hulu
Our Top Pick: The Dropout (2022, Hulu Original)
Covering the now-infamous story of Elizabeth Meriwether and Theranos, The Dropout is a thrilling tale of ambition gone wrong. Idolized as the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire, Meriwether lost her empire in an instant. The trail of money and deception leads to a tragic end for this enterprising pharmaceutical magnate, and the chaos along the way creates some amazing television.
