EPB Internet Plans, TV & Phone Service

EPB is one of the fastest internet providers in the world, offering fiber internet with equal upload and download speeds up to 10 Gbps. You read that right. City-owned, this ISP takes major competitors like AT&T and Spectrum to task. Customers enjoy unlimited data, no contracts, and free installation when they switch over. See our breakdown below to learn more about EPB.

EPB Internet: Fastest Fiber Internet Around

If you live in EPB territory, we envy you. While the new standard of internet service is 1000 Mbps speeds, EPB fiber optics takes it to the next level. It offers internet speeds up to 10 Gbps upload and download. And even though it exceeds most people’s internet needs, having the option to guarantee no lags online is enough to pique our interest. All internet plans come with unlimited data, no contracts, and a free installation.

For those looking to bundle internet services, EPB offers deals for that, too. It lets customers combine its fiber internet with TV and/or phone for a discounted rate and all the same perks as its standalone internet service. To see if EPB is available in your area, enter your zip code below.

EPB Company Details

In 1938, EPB (formerly known as the Electric Power Board of Chattanooga) was created by a private act passed in the Tennessee state legislature. It started out as a local electric power distributor and eventually evolved into a full-service telecommunications company that offers fiber internet, TV, and phone services. In 2020, EPB went through a brand refresh in anticipation of entering the telecom industry, and since then, it has made history for its strides in delivering the fastest internet in America. It was the first company to start offering gigabit internet service, and in 2015, it surpassed expectations by unleashing symmetrical 10 Gbps internet for residential customers. No. EPB bundles their TV service with fiber internet. You can choose between three different bundle deals: Bronze, Silver, or Gold.

When both your maximum upload and download speeds are equal, they are considered symmetrical. An example would be EPB’s “The Gig” plan which comes with download speeds of 1,000 Mbps and upload speeds of 1,000 Mbps.

Typically, providers prioritize download speeds over upload speeds because it’s needed for more popular activities such as web browsing, streaming, and video chatting. However, for users like content creators and remote workers who need to upload large files to the internet, upload speeds are critical. EPB is one of the few providers that offers symmetrical gigabit speeds – 10 Gbps for that matter.

Yes. EPB offers equipment rentals for a monthly fee of $9.99, but customers have the option to use their own WiFi equipment if they so choose (and we recommend it).

EPB offers 100 Mbps internet to any low-income household with a student who qualifies for free or reduced-fee lunches. This plan goes for $26.99/mo. – less than half EPB’s current starting rate of $57.99/mo.
