Hargray is a telecommunications company based on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Hargray provides broadband internet service, digital cable TV, and landline phone services to Alabama, Florida, the Savannah region of Georgia, and the Lowcountry region of South Carolina. Hargray, originally called Harcan Telephone, was founded in 1949 in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Hargray expanded in South Carolina and started offering cable TV to consumers in the 1980s. In 2007, Hargray was acquired by Quadrangle Capital Partners and was then sold to Cable One in 2021. Hargray itself has acquired other cable systems, including Charter’s cable operations in Beaufort, South Carolina, several systems from Shentel, and Electronet, a fiber-based communications company in Florida.
